Adrià Guevara i Figueras (1996) is a Catalan activist, politician, communicator, and internationalist with a lifelong passion for global issues. Born and raised in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona), in a family that fostered critical thinking and curiosity, Adrià developed an early passion for everything happening in the world around him.
After a brilliant academic start in his hometown, including several awards such as the Youth Research Award granted by the Government of Catalonia at the age of 16, he began studying International Business Economics at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and eventually graduated in Global Studies at the same university. This interdisciplinary degree, shared by the faculties of humanities, economics, law, politics, and communication, gave him a very versatile background. Before leaving college, he spent his last semester at Bocconi University (Milan, Italy), learning more about international politics, geopolitics, and governance. Later, he also obtained a Master’s Degree in Corporate Communication (Open University of Catalonia) and completed a postgraduate course in Leadership (Academia Europea Leadership). He never stops learning, with languages being one of his favorite intellectual challenges. He speaks Catalan, Spanish, English, and Italian, is advancing in French, and knows some basic Russian.
While studying at university, he took on different jobs to gain some financial independence from his parents. He collaborated with the Catalan think tank Josep Irla Foundation, trained some politicians and corporations on how to use social media, and was even a professional football referee for two seasons. A committed advocate for Catalan independence, Adrià’s activism evolved into a political career when he was elected as City Councilor of Vilanova i la Geltrú at the age of 22, becoming the youngest in the cabinet. He held local government responsibilities in economic promotion, electronic administration and IT, historical memory, childhood and youth, and the associations office. Among his proudest achievements during this period were youth-oriented participatory budgets, digital transformation in public services, and social mentoring programs. His leadership style combines innovation with hands-on experience, qualities that have earned him trust within his community and beyond.
In February 2023, his political career took a leap when he became a Member of the Parliament of Catalonia, again the youngest of that term. His areas of focus within the Parliament include Foreign Affairs, Research & Universities, Youth Policies, and Media Control, as he advocates for an agenda of social progress, transparency, and opportunity for Catalonia’s next generations.
Beyond his office, Adrià is a passionate traveler. As a child, he used to spend a couple of weeks each August driving all over Europe with his parents and sister. At just 15, he traveled alone to the US and spent over a month there, and he has not stopped moving since. He has visited more than 35 countries, either with family, friends, or solo, and has been to all continents except Antarctica and Australia (yet). Never joke with him about going on a trip, because he will have everything planned by the next day!
