With a deep passion for redefining the human experience in the 21st century, Ali Ghanem is dedicated to extending human life, health, wellness, and performance beyond conventional limits. As a science, research, and communication advisor to Bryan Johnson, he is committed to building Blueprint—the world's first and only comprehensive, autopilot health and longevity system. Ali is also deeply committed to promoting Don’t Die, a philosophy aimed at making it the most influential guiding principle of the 21st century, aligning humanity and Artificial Intelligence around the shared goals of stopping death, ending violence, and protecting the planet.
Ali is a multidisciplinary scientist with extensive experience in cellular metabolism and gene therapy. His work focuses on developing innovative genetic interventions to enhance healthy lifespan and push the boundaries of human physical and mental performance as we age.
After graduating with honors from Damascus University with a degree in pharmacy, Ali moved to Heidelberg, Germany, where he pursued his PhD from 2013 to 2018. His doctoral research centered on identifying and targeting the metabolic vulnerabilities of cancer cells. Alongside his primary research, he initiated additional projects to investigate the effects of high-dose vitamin C on breast cancer cells and to replicate liver xenobiotic metabolism in vitro using microfluidic technology. He completed his PhD with a Magna cum laude distinction.
Inspired by the transformative power of gene-based interventions to modulate cellular metabolism, Ali chose to pursue postdoctoral research in gene therapy. His hands-on experience in designing and optimizing gene therapy vectors provided him with both technical expertise and a deeper appreciation for the immense therapeutic potential of these technologies.
Seeking to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and clinical application, Ali transitioned into Pharma R&D consulting. This career move allowed him to gain valuable industry experience while contributing as an advisor to cutting-edge longevity research projects. Today, he continues to advance his vision at the intersection of gene and cell therapy, aging biology, and lifespan extension.
Ali is a global citizen with a multicultural background, shaped by his birth and early childhood in England, his upbringing in Syria, and his studies and professional life in Germany. He has a zest for travel, cooking, and lifelong learning, often immersing himself in books, podcasts, and audiobooks on topics ranging from science and technology to history, economics, and geopolitics. Above all, Ali is a devoted family man, a loving husband, and the proud father of adorable twins.
