Born in Tabriz, Iran, in June 1988, Soraya grew up as a multi-lingual Azerbaijan, Turkish and Persian speaker. Her father chose her name from a Persian poetry book written by a famous poet, Hafez. Soraya means the Pleiades star cluster, which has its own distinct Greek mythology narrative.

Her scholastic and professional adventure as a translator and language teacher began when she received a set of English vocabulary coloring books from her parents on her fourth birthday. From a young age, she was resolved to continue her life learning in the fascinating world of languages. She has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in translation and interpretation under her belt, and she plans to begin her Ph.D. in the same field soon. She received her international teaching certification from TEFL Academy and pursued a career as an EFL teacher in Iran and later in Turkey. She also has a certificate in Technical Management of Travel Agencies and has completed some tour leading courses.

In 2017 she moved to Turkey, which marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Despite the challenges of being a migrant, she rose through the ranks to become an educational coordinator, teacher supervisor, teacher recruiter and international English examinations instructor in just one year. Her profession evolved from that of a teacher and translator to that of an educational and business consultant tasked with salvaging schools on the edge of bankruptcy.

She reorganizes and re-establishes the educational system using the most up-to-date teaching approaches, creates exams and quizzes, trains staff and teachers, and oversees all aspects of the language school's success from the outset. Her motto has always been to concentrate on the quality of education and the happiness of teachers as the most significant human capital, rather than considering pupils as walking dollars. She became a co-partner of an online academic English exams school and an entrepreneur throughout the pandemic.

Soraya holds seminars and webinars introducing international exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT and ACT and counseling parents and students to succeed and get accepted by universities abroad. Her work-life encompasses more than just teaching. She works as a freelance writer, proofreader, translator, website content localizer, and web editor. Films, theater, Persian poetry, Persian and Greek mythology, philosophy, literature, sociology, cooking, ribbon flower making, crossword puzzles and sudoku are among her favorite pastimes.
