We are pleased to announce that from the 7th till the 19th of July, Le Dame Art Gallery will be hosting ‘Hidden Words On Canvas’, which will display the soulful works of Italian artist Riccardo Giradi.
Born in a small town North of Italy, Girardi’s journey as a prominent artist is unconventional to say the least. He initially begins as a Fine Art pupil in Venice and then makes the crossover from student to teacher. In the following years Girardi becomes a musician, then a fire fighter and after years working on cruise ships, he arrives to London to reassert his status as an unprecedented artist. He represents the multiplicity of human experience and the individual’s journey and this is echoed in the fervent works of ‘Hidden Words On Canvas’.
Subverting the conventional norms of simply oil on canvas, Girardi’s works focally illustrate the fusion of ballpoint pen with pencil and oil painting. Typically utilised as mediums for communication, the fusion of pen and painting highlights the artist’s compassionate interest in poetry and visual storytelling. This unconventional binary of medium also creates an aesthetic variation of texture in his canvases. Thematically Girardi takes influence from world-renowned Italian painter Walter Girotto and his aggrandising of the female body. Girardi represents the subject of the female without the typical notion of detachment and conflict.
