This exhibition features paintings, works on paper, and sculpture that will fill the imagination with salt spray, the wind's song, seagulls cries, the rhythm of swells, the crash of waves on rocks, and all the glories of our surrounding waters.

Included are Norman Ackroyd’s luminous etchings of the coast of West Cork, Alan Counihan’s poignant boat forms made from bones of sea birds, Neal Greig’s energetic paintings made in situ on the Donegal coast, Imelda Kilbane’s multimedia explorations of Achill’s weather and tides, Avril Lyon’s muscular paintings of sea-side storms, and Teskey’s monumental oils of the West’s rocky coast. Each artist brings different techniques and perspectives to the topic.

Located in picturesque Glengarriff, the Catherine Hammond Gallery is Cork’s preeminent commercial gallery. Now in its 11th season, the gallery is proud of its association with some of Ireland’s most outstanding established and emerging artists. It was was founded by Catherine Hammond after working for more than 20 years with major U.S cultural organizations, including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, the MacArthur Foundation, Chicago, and the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
