The exhibition The geohistorical evolution of the Aegean highlights the geological phenomena and processes related to the system of the Earth’s crust that helped create the Petrified Forest. The earth’s structure, the causes and results of volcanic and seismic activity in Greece and the geological evolution of the Aegean basin during the last 65 million years are presented through the exhibition sections.
The exhibition also includes impressive samples of minerals and rocks from Lesvos, Greece and the whole world, fossils and exact casts of paleontological findings from Greece, reconstructions and 3D models.
