This exhibition makes history audible and asks: How did ideas about Austria emerge? What role does music play in spreading political messages? And what does radio have to do with the rise of dictatorships?
Using fascinating audio examples, the exhibition offers a new way into recent Austrian history. It invites you to experience historical turning points from unfamiliar perspectives and encourages you to reflect on the interplay of culture and propaganda. As its starting point it takes six key moments: these were times when possibilities for obtaining and spreading information changed decisively – in dictatorships and democracies. Over the 80 years of the Second Republic in particular, the way the media shapes opinion-formation and everyday life becomes apparent. How have people spoken up? And what role do independent reporting and diverse perspectives play in democracy?
An inspiring journey through history that invites you to listen and join the conversation!
