This temporary exhibition offers a captivating journey through the evolution of sportswear from the 1800s to the present day, showcasing over 250 items of clothing and accessories. It pays tribute to the innovative fashion designers of the interwar period and examines the growing influence of sports on contemporary fashion. Visitors will also discover avant-garde collaborations between haute couture houses and sports brands, as well as the central role that today's athletes play as ambassadors for these prestigious brands.Designed by Sophie Lemahieu of the musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris and adapted in collaboration with the Olympic Museum, this exhibition explores the fascinating links between fashion and sport.
At first glance, fashion and sport seem to belong to opposite worlds: elegance and performance. However, over the last century, these two worlds have influenced each other. Athletes now sport outfits worthy of the catwalks of Fashion Week, while technical fabrics have become commonplace in street fashion.
The exhibition highlights this convergence through a redesigned scenography for the Olympic Museum, with a large catwalk for the contemporary section. Visitors will be able to discover a rich collection of clothing, works of art, photographs, posters and sculptures, illustrating the evolution of sportswear and its impact on fashion.
