In 2025 KunstRai will be 40 years old, a milestone in the Dutch art world that coincides with Amsterdam's 750th anniversary. From Wednesday 30 April to Sunday 4 May 2025, this double anniversary will be celebrated in style with a special edition of KunstRAI in the Parkhal (hall 8) of RAI Amsterdam.

KunstRai has been an integral part the Dutch art scene for four decades. As one of the oldest and most diverse art fairs in the Netherlands, the event provides a stage for galleries and artists from home and abroad. The fair showcases a wide range of contemporary art: from painting and photography to sculpture and installations. Each year, KunstRai attracts around 20,000 art lovers, collectors and professionals.

Focus Amsterdam: a tribute to the city

To mark the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam and the anniversary of KunstRai, this edition is dedicated to the city of Amsterdam. Seven leading galleries with a special connection to Amsterdam will present their artists in the specially designed Focus Amsterdam square.

In addition, the Backstage Academy, in collaboration with the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, will present a unique exhibition of the work of twenty young graduates. For this generation of artists, all of whom studied in the capital, Amsterdam is an important source of inspiration. They incorporate the Amsterdam750 theme into their work and present a surprising view of the city's past, present and future.

In addition to the gallery presentations and anniversary programmes, KunstRai 2025 offers an extensive fringe programme:

  • Sculpture square: Sculpture and monumental installations will once again be given a prominent place on the Sculpture square, with the Park Hall offering galleries and artists endless space to display works of impressive scale.
  • The artist night: On the evening of Friday 2 May, KunstRai will be transformed into a meeting place for artists, collectors and art lovers during the Artist Night. This special evening is dedicated to close encounters with the creators of the work on display at the fair, with galleries inviting their artists to attend and engage with the public. The artist night is a unique opportunity to discover the story behind the artworks in an informal and inspiring setting.
  • Birdland: In spring 2025, 99 Publishers will publish the book Birdland, which focuses on artists' fascination with birds. The launch will be accompanied by a special backstage exhibition at KunstRAI 2025, curated by bird expert and former curator of the Rijksmuseum Twenthe, Paul Knolle. The exhibition includes a unique selection of works from private collections and contemporary artworks depicting birds in their own unique way - a must-see for art lovers and professionals alike.
  • Up next in art: Saturday 3 May is dedicated to the emerging art professional. Artists, gallery owners and collectors share their knowledge and experience in an inspiring programme about the art world of tomorrow.
  • Wow Amsterdam: This creative breeding ground presents a selection of works by artists in residence, in collaboration with gallery owner Rob Malasch (Serieuze Zaken).
