Taste Contemporary is proud to present Inside out, a two-person exhibition of work by Hanna Jo and Per-René Larsen at Rue du Vieux-Billard 7, 1205 Genève, opening on 12th March 2025.
Born and raised in South Korea, Hanna Jo discovered a passion for painting anatomy, using this to explore aspects of the human condition. Graduating in 2022, her work is already attracting the attention of both collectors and curators; her booth at Freize Seoul 2024 was a sell-out and she will be included in an upcoming show at the Korean National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Taste Contemporary is pleased to now represent this exciting new voice and show her work, for the first time, in Europe.
For Inside Out, Hanna Jo highlights the fundamental equality of all human beings in paintings that pulse with warmth and are imbued with a quiet, visceral energy. They draw the viewer into cavernous depths where organs glide and affirm their restless presence. Her work provides a poignant reminder of our shared humanity and, looking inward, reflect on the many identities within each and every one of us that shape our life experiences.
For established Danish artist Per-René Larsen, the point of departure is an internal and mental
exploration. Sculptural hot glass is the preferred material for realizing his expressive abstract
visions. He describes the interaction between artistic vision and the specific materiality of glass
as stepping into an emotive rather than a thinking zone. One that exists beyond time and place.
Per-René Larsen has become one of the leading free artists who use glass as their medium.
From the beginning of his career, he has consistently taken an experimental and exploratory
approach to his work with glass, establishing the Fanefjord Glass workshop in 1984, which is
still his studio. His work is included in a number of museum collections including The Danish
Museum of Applied Art, Copenhagen, Denmark; Trelleborg Museum, Sweden and The Glass
Museum, Æbeltoft.
In the exhibition Inside out, the work of Hanna Jo and Per-René Larsen combines to tell stories of the internal and external.
