We are pleased to present a selection of works by Idun Baltzersen in the Inner room of the gallery. The works are a series of smaller textile woodcut collages and painted wooden reliefs that have not previously been shown in Sweden.
When my mum died in 2021, she left behind large amounts of yarn and half-finished knitting projects. She knitted a lot, and the crafts she left behind became such a clear image that she was now gone. The clothes became a strong reminder of her presence. It made me think of knitwear as a link to previous generations and a connection to those who have gone before us.

Baltzersen felt compelled to reuse the material even though she did not knit herself. By documenting her mother’s leftover material and using photographic staging, she created a series of images that were previously shown in a solo exhibition at Galleri Brandstrup in Oslo last year.
