Erin Cluley Gallery is pleased to announce Clay a group exhibition of work exploring contemporary ceramics in sculpture. Throughout art history, ceramics have retained an intimate connection with the environment and materials derived from natural elements. This exhibition showcases artists’ enigmatic techniques and their application of clay towards innovative sculptural construction.
Clay considers the complex materiality of ceramics and its many experimental forms in contemporary art, featuring artists from the Erin Cluley Gallery roster alongside regional sculptors. Across abstract, traditional, and naturalistic structures, these artists’ work shows the breadth of clay’s application in the field of ceramics. Clay reminds us of arts’ origins in the Earth and its aesthetic manipulation of materials to honor and subvert their original forms.
