The Prater might well be the beating heart of Vienna. For over 250 years, it has provided amusement, rest, and relaxation to the Viennese people.
The Prater museum, located right next to the famed "Riesenrad" (ferris wheel), recalls its colorful history, from the very beginning to the present moment. A monumental panorama greets visitors at the museum’s entrance.
From there, they are invited to the upper floors where fascinating historical objects — from merry-go-rounds to puppet characters and early slot machines – tell the Prater’s story alongside plans, models, photos, tickets, programs, and posters. The Prater Museum also functions as a meeting spot. The foyer, which also serves as an event location, can be visited for free.
