In the Community Gallery, the Wien Museum invites Vienna’s residents to share their concerns and perspectives. It is intended as a space for encounters and exchange, with a focus on learning from and with each other.

One city, 15 young people: Jews and Muslims. What happens when they meet? Do they talk about the Middle East conflict? About their different belief systems? About their shared experience as minorities?

The Wien Museum invited members of the communities to get to know one another and to articulate their needs and wishes for the future. We found out: Jewish and Muslim youth are, above all, young. Like others of their age, they are concerned with their place in Vienna, where they like to hang out, and what they like to do.

The meetings turned into workshops. The workshops became an exhibition. It is about Karlsplatz as a public space and its appropriation by the city’s youth.

Photographer Ouriel Morgensztern accompanied the young people. The resulting photographic material formed the basis for the exhibition.
