Cynthia Toops’ brilliant technical skills are evident as she reinvents and transforms the potential of micromosaic inlay. The artist mixes polymer clay like paint, creating limitless hues of color. She then rolls the polymer into threads, slicing and minutely forming tile beads to inlay.
Toops’ process is unique and distinctive. Her intricate micro mosaic polymer clay brooches, beads, and necklaces are “miniature marvels”.
Cynthia often collaborates with her husband, Dan Adams, combining her masterful, micro mosaic skills with Adam’s multi patterned, lamp worked glass beads.
The artists’ work can be found in various public collections including: the Cincinnati Art Museum, OH ; Kobe Lampwork Glass Museum, Japan; Mingei International Museum, CA; Museum of Arts and Design, NY; Museum of Contemporary Craft, OR; Museum of Fine Art Boston, MA; Newark Museum of Art, NJ; Philadelphia Museum of Art, PA; Racine Art Museum, WI; and Tacoma Art Museum, WA.
