Winston Wächter Fine Art is excited to announce Michelle Weddle’s second solo exhibition, Resonant color.

In this collection, I magnify the brushstroke to an oversized format, elevating its status to primary subject while reducing painting to the basic elements of color, texture, form and emotion. With fluid, unscripted gestures inspired by musical melodies and rhythms, I push and pull thin layers of paint across the surface, coating each canvas with a singular focused motion of dynamic energy. From start to finish, I seek balance in my work, continually weighing the scale of surrounding shapes with their tint and tone. Wrapping the edges of the painting with thick paint, emphasizes the idea of painting as object, and contributes to the sculptural quality of the work. As the creator, the very process of integrating an emotive gesture within a balanced framework of shapes and harmonic colors yields the same vitalizing energy I seek to convey.
