Convergence is an exhibition that bridges the gap between the wild and the human gaze Convergence moves beyond the limits of the physical space- it’s a heartbeat, a pulse of the natural world, encapsulated by two artists, award-winning German wildlife photographer Lars Beusker and Italian painter Giusy Rampini, who dare to capture the raw essence of wildlife through both paint and lens.
Set to be a defining moment in the exhibition is the first exhibition of Convergence is a pivotal moment for Rampini as it’s her first exhibition in the UK, while Beusker is exhibiting in the UK for the second time. Convergence suggests the union of two or more forces, where Beusker’s photographs and Rampini’s paintings unite, offering a rare, almost resistant look into the eyes of the wild. This is not a distant observation; it’s a direct invitation into the realm where animals are not subjects but entities that are gazing back, challenging us with their unfiltered presence.
Lars Beusker and Giusy Rampini’s dual show will be exhibited at the award-winning Miart Gallery London, a spectacular 560m2 contemporary and modern art centre located in the heart of Mayfair on St. James’s Street, London.
Miart Gallery, as well as being named "Best Gallery or Museum in the United Kingdom 2024” and featured in “The 20 Best Galleries or Museums in The World 2024", by the American Art Awards and World Art Awards, was also named as one of the, ‘Top 10 galleries in London 2022’ by London Walks. Miart Gallery was also selected as the "Art Gallery of the Year" among the galleries in 19 countries by The Corporate Livewire Innovation and Excellence Awards in July 2024.
With the new exhibition Convergence, Miart Gallery represents a space where different worlds can come together-this time, art and nature unite. This commitment to offering fresh perspectives and merging fields is exactly why Miart Gallery has been recognized with multiple awards, celebrated for connecting viewers with art in unexpected and thought-provoking ways, and inviting audiences to question the boundaries between the observer and observed.
Lars Beusker is more than a photographer, he is a storyteller of the natural world, capturing moments that feel both intimate and monumental. Known for his evocative black-and-white wildlife photography, Beusker brings a distinct perspective to the exhibition, one rooted in his deep connection to Africa’s wilderness. After a successful career in fashion photography, he transitioned to wildlife, using his experience with a 130mm or maximum 200mm lens—a tool often associated with fashion— to get remarkably close to his subjects. Beusker gets as close as 2 to 3 metres to his wild models, within hunting distance, and then he shoots with his camera! As a result, he captures the spectacular eye contact of his animal kingdom subjects, an up close and personal approach between man and wildlife that has become his signature style. This choice brings us face-to-face with wildlife in a way that feels less like observation and more like revelation.
Beusker’s images capture raw, unfiltered beauty, drawing us in with an intensity that lingers and a level of detail reminiscent of painters like Jan van Eyck, where one might even catch a glimpse of Beusker’s reflection in the animals’ eyes. By stripping away color, Beusker removes emotional bias, focusing instead on the character and dignity of the animals, inviting viewers to see them not as subjects, but as beings with depth and presence.
