An enchanting Old Viennese building accommodates Austria’s biggest collection of timepieces. At Vienna’s Uhrenmuseum, visitors can embark on a journey through time. More than 700 pieces from all over the world tell the story of time measurement from the Middle Ages to the recent past.

Highlights include the 17th century clock — weighing several tons — from St. Stephen's tower, the famous "Laterndluhren" of the Viennese Biedermeier period, and an astronomical clock by the monk David a Sancto Cajetano, which can display various local times, planetary orbits, and solar or lunar eclipses.

The Uhrenmuseum not only tells us more about scientific advancement and technological progress, but it also gives insights into a fascinating craft and sheds light on countless social upheavals.
