Charles Conrardy started painting at age 7 and currently resides in Prescott, Arizona. His media selection appears utilitarian as evidenced by his infusion of elements-including acrylics, oils, pastels, stains and dyes-his abstract images are stark and vivid. His brutally-scratched and abraided mixed media monsters re-affirms there is indeed a time and place for his idea of modernism. A closer look at a given piece reveals mesmerizing variations of texture, line, color and design, but the overall effect is visceral and immediate, void of pretension. His bifurcation isn't some hip, Post-Whatever musing; it's a practical philosophy culled from a lifetime of study and experience.

Conrardy's technique is unconventional, creating entirely unique compositions, working with the medium to achieve a finished piece. Abstract painting permits him the freedom to create whatever he can think of without violating any rules, because there are no rules. Conrardy believes the true measure of his art is the finished painting. If you like what you see, that's great and if you don't like what you see, that's not so great, but, it's ok. It's not a requirement that you like his work, it's only a request that you look. When he paints, he want the viewer to see what hasn't been seen before.
