Grace Kemarre Robinya from Tangentyere Artists, based in Mparntwe/Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, has brought together a selection of her own work alongside that of artists from Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp, for the exhibition Kwatja kngarritja tnyirlalhama (Big rain falling).
Working through the Tangentyere Artists and Yarrenyty Arltere Artists art centres, the artists have drawn on their experiences in the desert sustained by rain – a life-giving resource. They are inspired by Robinya’s reflective and joyous art practice, which is defined by figurative landscape paintings that often feature her signature clouds with sheets of rain.
Kwatja kngarritja tnyirlalhama (Big rain falling) invites children and families to drop in to create your own shapes or designs to add to Robinya’s immersive desert landscape wall. The desert is a vibrant place full of many colours, which change with each season, allowing you to be as bold and creative as you’d like!
