Kapoor Galleries is proud to present Pantheon of Power, a multimedia exhibition commemorating India’s 78th Independence Day, celebrating the virtuosity, imagination, and resilience of India's diverse artisans, cultural heritage, and spiritual traditions.
From the thunderous energy of Shiva and the warrior strength of Durga to the serene, yet commanding presence of architectural marvels like the Taj Mahal, the exhibition showcases a dynamic range of paintings, photographs, and drawings that emphasize the immense strength, wisdom, and authority of these iconic figures. Through rich subject matter, intricate motifs, and compelling narratives, each work captures the profound cultural significance these deities and landmarks hold.
Highlights include a pair of 19th-century Carved, silvered and painted wood figures of Rampant Horses from the Getty family collection, an installation of Vaishnav Temple Doors from Jaipur, and a striking painting of Chinnamasta, a form of the goddess Parvati, embodying self-sacrifice and nourishment. This exhibition offers a moment to pause and reflect on the dynamic yet enduring influence of artistic tradition and lineage across time. Creative evolution is evident across the diverse representations of deities, architectural marvels, and the development of the aesthetic philosophy that champions the country of India.
