Confusion is rarely admitted, not even while staring straight into the mirror. It is a state immediately buried and drowned by the will to distract the mind and spirit with readily available boosts of ego, leading to the birth of universal clichés. These clichés spread virally without investigation, serving as a necessity for self-preservation to combat confusion. Unfortunately, this helplessness is prevalent even among so-called professionals and experts who are willing to charge you just so you can find comfort in the company of those who might alleviate your woes. It isn’t because you are incapable of figuring out the root cause, nor is it due to a lack of knowledge or diminished experience. It’s all about the misplaced reminder of seeking understanding.
It’s a simple formula: if you understand, the path to clearer roads will emerge, provided you accept the landscape. Without acceptance, even if the circumstances displease you, there is no movement, and you will remain trapped in a particular confusion, akin to a rat in a maze with no exit, doomed to repeat undesirable patterns. Understanding clears the mind and invites the possibility of unity. In an argument or any other conflict, the preferred course is to reach a mutual understanding. Once achieved, the involved parties are united, residing in a zone where both can breathe without confusion. The beauty of this residency opens a portal cherished by all: that of respect.
By default and logic, through acceptance and understanding, there is no alternative but to respect others living in that mutually agreed-upon space. Opting otherwise would result in hypocrisy. The unique ability of respect breeds the potential for love—not necessarily romantic love, but also not excluding it. Respecting someone with whom you share a mutual understanding cultivates potential love. For it to grow unimpeded, understanding must be regularly reinforced. This allows any type of relationship to be more open to trusting one another.
With the acceptance of understanding leading to unification and fostering respect and love, there will be enough trust to attain peace—not just inner peace but communal and even universal peace. As previously mentioned, it’s a simple formula. Imagine how different and more harmonious everything around you would appear. Calmness would no longer be suffocated by the havoc of misunderstandings. Silence would be a welcomed comfort, and confusion would no longer cripple the core of your being. It is difficult to master, but I wonder if there is anything more important that we should focus on. I feel that there isn’t. For the sake of evolving the human race from its present regression, all thought and energy should be diverted toward building bridges of understanding.
Let the confusion surface, but only allow it to remain temporarily. There is nothing more devastating than piling it into the six inches of real estate in your skull. If you take a thorough look at history, all conflicts are a result of a lack of understanding, leading to fights that obliterate roads and poison rivers in the home of peace. Everything of value is difficult to attain and master. That's precisely the reason to pursue it, even if we don’t know where to begin. I propose it starts by accepting that our current situation isn’t suitable, a statement with which most of you would agree. It’s about sacrificing comfort, security, and all distractions to achieve a desire that offers relief. "Fighting for peace" is an oxymoronic phrase, and it is a shame that it has to be put that way. The choice has always been there. If you’re willing to do the work, then help those who are confused. Assist each other in finding understanding. Discover shared hopes and fears, similar dreams and nightmares, and maybe then you’ll find a path to peace.
