Huxley-Parlour Gallery are proud to present 'Dogs' by Elliott Erwitt, an exhibition of the Magnum photographer's revered canine portraits. From Dalmations to Dachshunds, this show is a charming collection of dogs from all walks of life, and all over the globe.
Known for his satirical humour and sharp wit, Erwitt rose to fame after he was invited to join Magnum photos by founding member Robert Capa in the 1940s. He has since become one of the world's most successful and influential photographers, having produced over twenty retrospective photography books and been honoured by numerous solo shows at establishments such as the Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art and the Chicago Art Institute.
Alongside more serious documentary work and portraits of famous figures, Erwitt's personal practice involves travelling the world with his trusty Leica, and wandering the streets looking for unlikely moments and peculiar scenes. It is these clever snapshots in particular that have endeared him to millions of photography enthusiasts the world over.
This small exhibition of 18 prints will be the first London show dedicated to Erwitt's charming photographs of dogs.
