Sail is a bi-monthly event held at the Graffiti Life Gallery.
The show includes a glimpse at pieces from the gallery’s permanent collection, along with an exclusive 'Last Chance to Buy' section; showcasing popular art from previous shows for the very last time.
This month's show also includes the launch of an exclusive print range, featuring risograph prints from 6 of our best graffiti artists. The Last Chance to Buy section will offer a final chance to get your hands on pieces from the StreetCreep, Darren John, Ventza and many others.
Paintings chosen from the permanent collection for this month's show include some of the iconography and pop culture references that have been synonymous with Graffiti Life artists' work in the past, and an ode to the city of London that must be seen to be believed!
Benjamin Badbones has been painting graffiti since 1999. His work has been a journey of experimentation with themes of repetition, iconography and pop culture. Benjamin has never been precious about his work, painting over old canvases with new work; he believes that paintings should ‘live their life’ whether its for a few days in the street or years on a canvas – nothing lasts forever.
Curtis Hylton , working from his Studio in the South of England, is young, full of energy and already making an impact in the art scene. His work spans multiple mediums and he has adapted an abstract approach to the art of photorealism whilst also combining a modem twist to traditional cartoon illustrations. These works have been translated onto walls of both galleries and external walls nationwide.
Darren John is a motivated and enthusiastic Image-Maker currently based in London, UK. Though much of his work spans multiple creative disciplines, it regularly promotes off-kilter, character-driven concepts that combine a playful approach to colour and a solid appreciation for composition. He has displayed his work in various cities around the world and regularly travels in search of new undiscovered walls to paint. Though some of his artworks mirror the process of the graffiti he paints, much of it is a complete separate entity and by working with this division he is able to engulf himself in an innovative cycle of ideas and imagery that flow organically throughout his works.
Ventsa is an artist and illustrator from South West England. His work explores the rich history of his decade and a half involvement with the graffiti culture. From his early beginnings photographing trains with his father, to his obsession with 1960′s and 70′s comic illustration. His work combines layered texture and wash, with a hyper detail finish through his unique aerosol techniques. A colour palette split between the neutral earth tones of 1980′s car paint and flourishes of bright fluorescent tints allow his work to remain subtle yet sure footed. Iamventsa has exhibited in both exhibition and print throughout the Uk and Europe.
