Edward Thorp Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of American Folk Art curated by Fred Giampietro. The work to be presented will primarily focus on the 100 years between 1830 and 1930.
Included will be examples of weathervanes, carousel art, sculpture and paintings. Of note will be a newly discovered carved African-American seated figure referencing a Tanzanian chair. Also included, will be a rare cast iron figure of the angel Fame, a portrait of a lady in a fancy chair by Ammi Phillips and a rare tobacco Indian trade figure by Thomas Brooks.
