Steve Turner is pleased to present Business Casual, a solo exhibition by New York-based Pablo Barba which will consist of seven paintings completed during the last year. Inspired by historical genre painting, including “merry company” scenes, along with advertising and cartoons, Barba depicts small groups of people in familiar situations drawn from daily life, including water cooler chats, cofee breaks and an ofce party.
While the scenes are rooted in historical imagery, they are charged with the energy of the present.
Born in 1985 in Santiago de Chile, Pablo Barba earned an MFA from Columbia University (2016) and an MA from Universidad de Chile (2014). His work has been exhibited at Galería Animal, Galería BECH and Galería Juan Egenau in Santiago; and at The LeRoy Neiman Gallery, The Wallach Gallery at Columbia University, The Fisher-Landau Center for Art, and The Bronx Museum of the Arts in New York. This is his first exhibition at Steve Turner.
