The Museum für Islamische Kunst presents Studies of Nature – Between Art and Science, an exhibition devoted to artistic explorations of the natural world in Islamicate arts of the book.
The lessons in nature offer fertile grounds for artistic expression and creativity. Artists world-wide and throughout history have long been invested in examining and representing the natural world. Despite common misconceptions, this is no less true for artists stemming from Islamic regions. The Islamic book arts tradition offers strong visual examples that model ideas about nature, express scientific and philosophical interests or invest in replicating the surrounding natural environment.
With Studies of Nature – Between Art and Science, the Museum für Islamische Kunst will present a variety of drawings and paintings that demonstrate a strong correlation between art and the natural sciences.
