The Sushisamba will open its first European location in London in the winter of 2012. Located in the top three floors of the Heron Tower, the restaurant promises to deliver a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, culture, and music.
Two outdoor terraces will be a vital part of the restaurant, offering supreme views of the city. Award-winning architects CetraRuddy has been appointed to design the restaurant, which will have direct access through two scenic elevators from a dedicated entrance on Bishopsgate. The space will offer two restaurants serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, as well as outdoor dining, a bar and lounge, and premier event space.
Sushisamba is created by the combination of the energy and spirit of Japan, Brazil and Peru, a tri-cultural partnership that began in the early 20th century when thousands of Japanese emigrants traveled to South America's fertile soil to grow coffee plantations and to begin a better life. In lively cities like Lima in Peru and São Paulo in Brazil, the assimilation of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cultures thrived.
At Sushisamba, Brazilian churrasco and moqueca, Peruvian anticuchos and seviches, and Japanese tempura and sushi promise something for every taste. An open kitchen featuring a sizzling robata grill filled with freshly roasted meats, vegetables, and fish will provide an open window on the culinary skills that has made this restaurant a hit for well over a decade.
Exotic spirits such as shochu, pisco, and cachaça join traditional beverages like wine, beer and champagne on the Sushisamba beverage menu. The restaurant will offer one of the major premium sake selections in the entire world, making sake pairings offered with any dish. Its freshly muddled cocktails, which they will include the Nina Fresa, Chu-Cumber, as well as the Caipirinha, will continue to be this unique restaurant’s signature.
