Rend the Heavens: Intersections of the Human and the Divine examines moments and means by which mankind is brought into the communion or recollection of the Divine and was inspired by the 200th anniversary of the First Vision of the Prophet Joseph Smith, in 2020.
The exhibition, which will be on display until December 2021 at the BYU Museum of Art, features dozens of masterworks from the MOA collection, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and prints. Eight new museum acquisitions will also be included.
Artworks in the exhibition range from the 17th century to contemporary pieces, by such artists as Minerva Teichert, Maynard Dixon, C.C.A. Christensen, Dorothea Lange, Frans Schwartz, Norman Rockwell, Rembrandt, and others.
