Mot Projects are delighted to present a new installation by Renaud Jerez, Greed. Comprised of multiple computer animations, mummified sculptures and posters portraying the language of advertising, Greed composites mixed materials and mediums to create an immersive installation.
Jerez creates his sculptures from the various plumbing parts and insides of Jacuzzis. Diverging from the fluidly and flux of liquid bubbles, he disassembles and empties the Jacuzzi of its whirlpool, wrapping and preserving its dead systems in bandages. The Jacuzzi’s disembodied parts therefore become mummified and act as dehydrated limbs casting anthropomorphic shadows.
Projected digital animations depict desert landscapes, Jacuzzis and characters; all with minimal purpose. A naked female form unmindfully walks forward within the projected frame; nameless and emotionless, she is an empty commodity. Together, the installation with the dry, desert sand, Jacuzzi shell and haunting audio create a familiar yet uneasy and vacuous simulation, void of liquid and instructions.
