The New York City Marathon is an annual major sport event that goes through all five districts of New York City, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Manhattan. It is one of the largest marathons in the world; the event started in 1970 with just 55 runners ending the race. Nowadays, it features well over 35,000 participants, not including thousands of volunteers and over two million spectators. Along with the Boston Marathon and Chicago Marathon, it is among the finest long-distance annual running events in the United States and is one of the World Marathon Majors.
The sport event is a wonderful experience to cheer on the marathoners as they make the 26.2 mile trip around New York City.
The marathon will take place on November 6th, 2011; the race will start in Staten Island and it will end in Central Park, Manhattan.
