Dillon Gallery is pleased to present the third solo New York exhibition of Michel Tabori, “Sex and Proust: Remembrance of Things Past.” Tabori has ventured into a new realm creating mixed-media images that transform people, places, and things of personal importance. After spending 30 years in film and television as a director and cinematographer, his current work incorporates his cinematic expertise and visual acuity while integrating the use of pigment on canvas and layers of polymer resin that add optical qualities and movement to the static image. Each piece begins from inspiration occasioned by nature, a person, music or literature. The experience is subjective and variable. It involves light and shadow, surface and depth, reflection and refraction that constantly change with the light and movement of its surroundings that give each piece a continually evolving dynamic of its own.
