R & Company presents a new exhibition titled Dinner, on view May 21 – June 18. Taking place on the lower level of the gallery’s 64 White Street location, the exhibition celebrates the tradition of dining with a presentation of historical and contemporary seating, tables, objects and lighting.
“For this exhibition, we explored the idea of dinner as a place for comfort and gathering by creating a series of unique table settings. By mixing a range of historical and contemporary designs together, we are able to present timeless vignettes that are both refreshing and fun” states principal Zesty Meyers. “Dinner is a place where you can eat, relax and connect with your friends, family and colleagues. We wanted to present the opportunity for different dinning settings that can serve that purpose.”
The exhibition includes a selection of impeccably crafted designs that date back as early as the 1940s to recent works made this year. On view are seven unique table settings that each consist of varying pieces. Displayed in the lower level gallery, the tables are presented under a group of lighting dramatically hung in the 40-foot atrium space. Dinner includes furniture by Brazilian modern designers Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues and Oscar Niemeyer as well as seating by Danish modern designer Ole Wanscher. Also on view are new designs by The Haas Brothers as well as the latest dining set from Pierre Yovanovitch’s celebrated OOPS collection. The exhibition also presents coveted objects by contemporary designers Rogan Gregory, Katie Stout, Renate Müller, Kelly Lamb, Jeff Zimmerman and Ashley Hicks.
Dinner is on view from May 21 to June 18 on the lower level of R & Company’s 64 White Street location and runs concurrently with the exhibition Radical Living.
