Katy Hackney was born in Dundee and attended Edinburgh College of Art before going to the Royal College of Art, London.
There is a lack of compromise about Katy Hackney’s jewellery, her unorthodox choice of materials and the adjustment of status conspire to intrigue and challenge our preconceived notions of what is precious.
Inspired by childhood toys and undiscovered items in reclamation yards and junk shops, Katy’s jewellery is playful and dynamic.
“In this new group I continue to explore native wood and colour. I'm interested in the colours and textures of wood and painted wood: old painted wooden doors, vehicles, toys, found objects.” Katy Hackney, August 2013
