Featuring a selection of objects from the Peabody Museum’s permanent collections, the exhibit illustrates the diversity of North American cultures, as seen through the objects produced by indigenous peoples of the nineteenth century.
The exhibit considers historic interactions between native peoples and Europeans during a period of profound social change in each culture area: Northeast; Southeast; Southwest; Plains; California/Plateau; Northwest Coast; Arctic; and Subarctic.
The exhibit also highlights aspects of contemporary Native American cultures.
