This exhibition features fifty contemporary artworks from ten artists in Art Mûr’s roster who are working across various practices and mediums. Gathered in this space, the selected artworks set out to reconsider contemporary art in an attempt to anticipate its imminent future.

Here, the viewer is invited to dwell on imaginative modeling of alternative worlds as intimations of possibilities. Envision an archaeologist’s expedition to the future with the objective to collect objects and fragments, texts and photos as artifacts of the future.

The artworks presented in this exhibition do not propose the suspension of a belief system but a willingness to engage in jest with the undefined perspectives of fictitious narratives. Social commentary takes place in a boundless timescale that doesn’t begin or end anywhere.

Populated by miniature sculptures, fictionalized organisms, botanical formations, allegorical drawings, fossilized objects, relics of the future and living architectures, Archaeology of the Future attempts to define how the exploration of utopic themes in art today embodies our understanding of contemporary cultures and allows us to conceive what the future might look like.
