Ro2 is proud to present Garden of Earthly Delights, a solo exhibition featuring new works by artist Carroll Swenson-Roberts. The show will run from April 27 through May 25, 2019. There will be an opening reception held on Saturday, April 27, 7-10 PM at Ro2’s Cedars Gallery located at 1501 S Ervay Street, Dallas, TX 75215. ​

The large scale interior landscapes in Carroll Swenson-Roberts one woman show “Garden of Earthly delights narrates her idea of home as a place where an individual’s inner life, with its own symbols and significance is allowed to flourish. The accompanying smaller paintings bring these symbols forward for closer scrutiny. Both the large and small drawings set these objects within the context of the natural world. Whether in the form of a garden, a vase of flowers or a swimming pool the natural world in these works is both curated and personal but refers to the broader outside world. The works, produced over 30 years, are a record of her changing relationship between her interior self and the wider world.

Carroll Swenson-Roberts is a narrative artist who has always been most comfortable in the art room. One of six children, she was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Her family’s travels included the Jersey shore, her grandparents’ house in Florida ,and their 100-year-old family ranch in west Texas. Graduating with a BFA in painting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980, she has spent the last 30 years drawing the stories of her life and painting the landscapes of her travels to Dallas, Austin, Philadelphia, California and all the spaces in between.
