BOZAR kicks off the Bruegel year in Brussels with the double bill The Age of Bruegel, as we plunge into the crazy, exhilarating 16th century. An age of peasant weddings and fallen angels, religious tumult and sudden upheavals. Explorers tear open the horizon and artists intertwine North and South to create masterpieces that will resonate for centuries.

Bernard van Orley. Brussels and the Renaissance brings works from the biggest collections in the world together in the place where they once came into existence. The adjoining exhibition Prints in the Age of Bruegel shows how the invention of printing resulted in an explosion of new images.

Today we have once again arrived at a tipping point; forcing us to ask such fundamental questions as how we deal with our planet, migration, technology, work and democracy. This is why we now look back at the driving force behind the changes of the Renaissance.
