The Hamburg based artist Thorsten Brinkmann, born 1971, takes staged photographs of himself using discarded objects like vases, bowls and cans to serve as his head.
He creates imaginary worlds with ‚other man’s trash’. Oftentimes he turns the first edition of his photographs into assemblages, adding found objects like frames, carpets or chains to the image and therefore creating three-dimensional pieces that reach into the real world.
The works sometimes remind the viewer of popular works of art history showing equestrian statues or monarchs. The exhibition presents a selection of photographies, assemblages, sculptures and videos.
