Fisher Parrish Gallery is pleased to present "The Views", a group exhibition of paintings of windows by 11 contemporary artists. From voyeurism and perversion to romanticism and longing, "The Views" presents the varied cliches and symbolisms within a subject painted by nearly every great painter and theorized about in nearly every decade of art history.
Joshua Abelow (b. 1976, Frederick, MD) received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He currently lives and works in New York. He has held solo exhibitions at James Fuentes Gallery, Halsey McKay Gallery, BFA Boatos Fine Arts (Brazil), Brand New Gallery (Italy), and Tomorrow Gallery (Canada). In addition to his studio practice he ran ART BLOG ART BLOG from 2010-’15 and is the proprietor of Freddy Gallery in Harris, NY.
Ross Caliendo (b. 1988, Pittsburgh, PA) earned his BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design in 2011. He has shown with Night Gallery (CA), Phil Gallery (CA), M+B Gallery (CA), and No Place Gallery (OH) among others. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
Alexander Harrison (b. Greenville, SC) received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2017. He has shown in NY and CA, as well as in the southeast. He currently lives and works in New York.
Aaron Elvis Jupin (b. 1991, Fullerton, CA) received his BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 2014 where he studied painting. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He has shown with Fisher Parrish Gallery and Underdonk in New York, Steve Turner Gallery, Paul Loya Gallery, Innocnts Gallery, HVW8 Gallery in Los Angeles, and Fisk Gallery in Portland.
Jennifer J. Lee (b. 1977, Lewiston, NY) received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Lee has held solo exhibitions at Pressure Club (PA), and Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery (NY) as well as group exhibitions at Sardine Gallery (NY), Canada (NY), and Regina Rex (NY) among others. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Chris Oh (b. 1982, Portland, OR) earned his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. He has held solo exhibitions at Sargent’s Daughters (NY) and Fortnight Institute (NY), and has participated in group exhibitions at Fisher Parrish Gallery (NY), Hashimoto Contemporary (CA), Edward Ressle Gallery (NY) and Safe Gallery (NY) among others. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Alan Prazniak (b. 1985, PA) received his BFA from the Tyler School of Art and his MFA from Rutgers University. Recent solo exhibitions include Geary Contemporary (NY) and 106 Green (NY) and he has participated in group exhibitions at Projet Pangée (Montreal) and Andrehn-Schiptjenko (Stockholm) among others. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Eleanor Ray (b. 1987, Gainesville, FL) received her BA from Amherst College and her MFA from the New York Studio School. She has recently had a solo exhibition at Nicelle Beauchene Gallery (NY) and shown her work with Howard’s (GA), The Landing (CA), and Steven Harvey Fine Art Projects (NY). Numerous awards and residencies include Ucross Foundation, Wyoming; Edward F. Albee Foundation, NY; New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting; and the American Academy of Arts and Letters Purchase Prize.
Clayton Schiff (b. 1987, Boston, MA) received his BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He has shown with Fisher Parrish Gallery (NY), Safe Gallery (NY), American Medium (NY), Nicelle Beauchene Gallery (NY), Mountain Fold Gallery (NY), Bodega (PA), and Magnets (RI) among others.
Cynthia Talmadge (b. 1989, NY) received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2011. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at Nina Johnson Gallery (FL), 56 Henry (NY), and Halsey McKay Gallery (NY) among others. She lives and works in New York.
Anna Weyant (b. 1995, Calgary, AB) received her BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2017. Her work has been featured at Nina Johnson Gallery (FL) among others.
