South Asia today comprises the core countries of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. Frequently Nepal, the Maldives, Bhutan, and Afghanistan are included as well.

The collection’s strength is in the arts of India, with a wide range of sculpture and painting from the ancient kingdoms of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
