The earliest of these ran on steam, while others were drawn along by string and later models were mechanical and subsequently electrical.

Some of the greatest makes of the day are exhibited here, including Märklin, Bing, JEP, L.R. and Hornby! Classic items such as the Pacific 231 by JEP referred to as the Golden Arrow or the Princess Elizabeth by Hornby are great examples of the sheer ingenuity of these toys.

Railway modelling also takes pride of place, with two lively and lavishly decorated displays laid out. The largest involves no fewer than four trains running simultaneously!
