For more than 30 years, Jaume Plensa has accompanied his work as a sculptor with a substantial body of etchings, which have already been the focus of a number of retrospectives.
2018 has been an important year for the artist with a major installation in Madrid (Palacio de Cristal) and a show in Barcelona (MACBA), as well as the completion of a number of important works (les Trois alchimistes, Fondation Carmignac, Porquerolles ; Pacific Soul, San Diego…); it has also been a very productive year in terms of his etchings.
The artist has produced Symétrie, a large etching with sinuous and enveloping movement and two series: the six Alchimistes, engraved onto rounded copper and presenting the silhouettes of famous writers inserted in a sort of alphabetical bubble, and the seven digital prints of Lumière Invisible, with their very deep black backgrounds from whence emerge brilliant heads of young girls with their eyes closed.
