The room opened on 8th March 2002. Both the setting of the exhibition and the conservation of the objects on displayed were sponsored by Carfeour-Marinopoulos in the memory of Ioannis P. Marinopoulos.
For Thessaloniki the late Byzantine is a period of spiritual progress, theological quests and social movements which resulted in growth in the arts, especially painting, with special impact in Mount Athos and the neighboring Slavic people.
