This winter marks three years since the death of the legendary and beloved British singer David Bowie, who at age 69 gave way to an 18-month battle with cancer. Bowie was beloved by music fans in Hong Kong who recalled with fondness his "Reality Tour" in 2004, and most especially his 1983 stop along the "Serious Moonlight Tour," during which the artist paid an unforgettable tribute to John Lennon and filmed an off-label version of his music video "Fashion" along the neon-lit streets and shops of the city. Bowie's lifelong fascination with Asian Culture was made evident through his multiple Asian tours, Japanese Kabuki-inspired fashion and stage performances, and hit songs including "China Girl" and "Cha Na Tian Di" - Bowie’s only Chinese title, written by Hong Kong lyricist Lin Xi.

This March, in collaboration with Women of Hope and in honour of International Women's Day, Alisan Fine Arts will co-present a charity exhibition of photographs celebrating the life and legacy of rock legend David Bowie by celebrity photographer Markus Klinko. Over the course of his career Klinko has photographed countless musicians, performers and models, creating a “unique visual universe”(VOGUE), where glamorous, high fashion fuses with the gritty edge of youth culture." In March 2016, he received the media spotlight for releasing previously unseen images of the music icon David Bowie. Klinko's work is regularly featured in publications such as Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair, GQ, The New York Times, Madame Figaro, Stereo Review, and Ongaku no Tomo.

Markus Klinko's photography exhibition will open with a private reception on Tuesday, 5 March, and welcome the public from the 6-16 March at the Alisan Fine Arts Central Gallery located at 21/F Lyndhurst Tower, 1 Lyndhurst Terrace in Central, Hong Kong. Proceeds from the Women of Hope exhibition will benefit the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation.
