Norbert Frensch has been exploring the potential of light and darkness, time and space in painting since 1992.
The central motif of this perpetual pictorial field research is a metallic shimmering shell, the fragmentation of shape, which is immersed in complete darkness. Since 10 years, Norbert Frensch paints his motifs with oil paint and a reflecting resin glaze:
A simple, silvery, shimmering shell dipped into a deep night, in the surface of which the last remains of the light seem to be caught. From image to image illuminations, perspective and the material appearance of the shell vary. Their puzzling appearance always remains at the limit of visibility.
