Running concurrently to the exhibition at Mart, the expositional project at Casa Depero addresses a particular aspect of the critical work of Margherita Sarfatti, who promoted the Novecento Italiano and the idea of a modern classicism: her relationship with Futurism and with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti.
From Sarfatti’s Milanese circle to the 1926 Venice Biennale, the exhibition touches on the principal elements in this interchange, exploring Futurism during the years of the Fascist regime.
The exhibition draws on a nucleus of works from the museum’s Collections and on the invaluable documentation in the Sarfatti Archive in the Archivio del ’900.
