See spectacular, award-winning photographs of the night sky from the last 12 months as judged by world-renowned astrophotographer Dr David Malin in this free exhibition.

Among the images on display this year is the atmospheric view shown above of the Milky Way on a cloudy winter’s night as seen from beach number 5, Venus Bay, Victoria.

Other images on display show the varying colours of the lunar surface, sprites dancing above a distant thunderstorm, the Milky Way arching over Barrenjoey lighthouse, star-trails that reveal the colours of the stars, plus so much more.

Winning Sky Photos is presented by the Central West Astronomical Society for AstroFest, Parkes NSW. They are Supported by Canon Australia and CSIRO’s Astronomy and Space Sciences. The competition aims to encourage photographers to use their vision, imagination and skill to produce inspiring and beautiful images of the sky.
