The collection of photographs is the largest of all Museum of Warsaw collections. It has been created over the period of more than sixty years, mainly by way of purchase and donations.
It comprises photos related to Warsaw made by local photographers. The collection is a true visual chronicle of the city as well as a gallery of portraits of Varsovians and people connected to Warsaw. The Room of Photographs as part of the core exhibition is unique in the history of museum practices.
The objects presented in the exposition have been placed in chronological order delineated by the two axes – one situating photographs according to the date, and the other – horizontal – arranging them from detailed to general views.
