The Collection Exhibition is an examination of travel in a loose framework of different points of view. The exhibition offers a journey through time, into the future, and a window into the passing of days, momentum and the processes through which we archive fleeting moments into memory.
The journey takes us underneath the surface, to trails of fantasy and dreams, immersing us into landscapes and inviting us to travel far afield. Paris offers us inspiration, Firenze a stream of colour and light.
The museum’s art collection holds 650 works of art that span the entirety of art history in Finland and the rest of the western world. The earliest works in the collection date to the end of the 19th century, the latest to this very day. This exhibition showcases works from over 30 artists.
The artists of the exhibition include Petri Ala-Maunus, Karel Appel, Saara Ekström, Simo Hannula, David Hockney, Ahti Lavonen, Kauko Lehtinen, Leena Luostarinen, Pablo Picasso, Kain Tapper, Ellen Thesleff and Andy Warhol.
